I'm using Fireworks for my screenshots

News

I've downloaded a 30-day trial of Fireworks to handle all the screenshots for our book on Actionscript programming, so that I don't have to use Photoshop anymore. Happily, I've discovered that fireworks handles cropping and editing in a much faster workflow compared to Photoshop (drag and click, wow), so it's perfect for my task. Even the interface is identical to Flash MX's interface. I plan to learn more about Fireworks MX and I'm considering buying it after I finish writing the book.

That sounds interesting. But why "so that I don't have to use Photoshop anymore". Is there a hate for Photoshop in Flash community, because of the lawsuit?

I'm a Flash Dev myself. I put you in my "Related blogs"-dropdown. I hope it's ok.

ALT + PrintScreen captures just the active window. No cropping. My tip for the day.

GrabIt is the best PC program for screen shots ever. I used this for writing a 200+ page manual of user docs for a project and it saved my life. Many options for grabbing the current window, a specific rect, even for grabbing all of a window that scrolls off the screen. Also some animation capture if you need that.

I'll never ever go back to Apple+Shift+4 or Alt+PrntScrn again.

Do you have to bump up the resolution for your screen captures, or are you leaving it at 72dpi?

OT somewhat:

If you're on a mac, download 'tinker tool' -- it will let you do your traditional screengrabs (apple+shift+4)+3) and allow you to specify filetype(png, tiff, jpg ++) and location.
