Responding to comments

Thanks for posting all the helpful feedback in the comments section. I get an email notification of each comment, and I just realized I've been responding directly by email. Instead, I should have been posting my responses directly to the comments sections so that everyone else can see the answer as well. Doh!

From now on, I'll email a direct response as well as post the resonse on my website's comments section. If you want a direct email response, please make sure to include your email address in the comments form. I can't promise to respond to all questions immediately because I've got a tight deadline on a new OOP Actionscript & Components book with Branden Hall. However, I will make sure to respond to all comments/questions eventually.

Your comments are great... they really help me focus on what people want to learn. Keep posting, thanks :)

Hi Sam,

We met in Amsterdam, I was showing you the Mindmap stuff. (Just re-introducing). I have a q. The Examiner_viewer that you built doesn't seem happy when published as a Flash 6 movie. Any idea why? I have been trying to work out why, but can't. Any help would be great.

I was using your xml_recursive tree expansion for some menu stuff that I did in Flash 5. When I got Mx I was going back through one of my flash sites and realized that the tree expansion didn't work correctly anymore. I went through the code but couldn't quite get a grasp on what was wrong. I think it has something do do with the .init function referencing the clipArray in the expansion function. I traced the clipArray and clipArray.length and got nothing for both results even when the array was pushed with the values of the path array. Another thought is that Mx might have some reserved words that flash 5 did not, like path. Don't know. I guess I should tell you what is going wrong. The positioning of the menu items is messed up. I can expand only the first xml node and then the child nodes get out of line and sit on top of each other only giving me one of the child nodes options. Any ideas? Any help would be awesome.
